“A Day in the Life of A 4K Student”

The Denmark Early Childhood staff and students invite all those interested in our 4K program to attend “A Day in the Life of a 4K Student.”  Registration for the 2012–2013 school year is just around the corner.   To give you and your child/ren a sneak peek of what 4K here at the ECC consists of we invite you to join us for a morning or afternoon session on either Monday, Feb. 6th or Thursday, Feb. 9th. We are offering four sessions of “A Day In the Life Of a 4K Student” to choose from.   You may attend either day (Monday or Thursday) from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m or 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Feel free to stay the whole 3 hours or as long as your schedule allows. We ask that you attend with your child.  This is a great way to introduce your child to the 4K program and to help prepare both you and your child for their first year of school.   Our curriculum is designed to be developmentally appropriate, with a focus on developing social and emotion, physical, early numeracy, as well as early literacy and language experiences though active, exploratory learning.   We believe in working together with parents to educate the whole child.

Students eligible for the 2012-2013 school year must be 4 years of age by Sept. 1, 2012.  The ECC offers 4K half days Monday through Thursday with Fridays as a day off.  Each month the 4K also offers an Outreach activity which you and your child have the option of attending.  Some of the past Outreach activities have included: A Hay Ride, Father and Child Game Night, The Building for Kids, Bowling, to name just a few.

Please check out the 4K teachers (Mrs. Noth and Mrs. Kettenhofen) classroom web pages for additional information and activities held during the 4K school year.

Registration for the 2012-2013 school year will be held the week of Feb. 20th through 24th between the hours of 7:40 and 3:40.  Feel free to pick up registration materials during your visit and return them during registration week.  Information will also be available on the Denmark Before and After School Program which is housed here at the Early Childhood Center.  This program offers children between the ages of 4 and 13 a safe place before and after school where they will be in an enriched and caring environment.  This program offers full time, part time, early release, and non school days care services.  The Before and After School Program is Owned and Operated by Shawn Short.

Please call the ECC office at 863-4175 to schedule a time to join the students and staff in Mrs. Noth’s and Mrs. Kettenhofen’s 4K classrooms for “A Day in the Life of a 4K Student”.  We look forward to meeting you and your child/ren.

 General Information

The Denmark Early Childhood Center is home to an Early Childhood Special Education program facilitated by Brown County, a half-day four-year-old kindergarten program, and a full-day five year-old kindergarten program staffed with certified teachers and qualified paraprofessionals.  During the summer of 2000, additional classroom space was added to accommodate the increase in Early Childhood programming. The School District of Denmark is committed to providing high quality Early Childhood programs. The curriculum is designed to be developmentally appropriate, with a focus on developing social and emotional, physical, early numeracy, as well as early literacy and language experiences through active, exploratory learning.  Following the standards of The National Association for the Education of Young Children as well as Wisconsin's Early Learning Standards, the Early Childhood Center staff is committed to providing experiences that educate "the whole child".  In addition to core instruction, the Early Childhood Center also has specialists in the areas of Reading, Art, Physical Education, Media Center, and Music.  The Early Childhood Center is open for school operations from 7:40 AM to 3:40 PM. The breakfast and hot lunch programs are available to Early Childhood Center students.  The Denmark Early Childhood Center also houses the Denmark Historical Society.
