MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of Denmark Elementary School is to build and enhance a solid foundation in literacy, mathematics, communication, critical thinking, and problem solving. We strive to create a responsible, self-directed learner. Every effort will be made to enhance the intellectual, physical, emotional and social needs of each student.

 

The Denmark Elementary School was built in 1970. It houses first through fifth grades. Hands-on science using Einstein kits, a balanced literacy program, the Everyday Math Program, and technology are ongoing areas of improvement for the Elementary School. The staff is committed to improving student learning in a child-friendly atmosphere. A supportive Parent/Teacher Organization is an asset to the students and staff. 

Specialists in the areas of Art, Media Center, Keyboarding/Computers, Physical Education, and Music service the Denmark Elementary School. In addition, the school offers comprehensive services in Special Education. The school also has a comprehensive Pupil Services program. 
The Denmark Elementary School is committed to having all students read at or above grade level at the conclusion of third grade. The Literacy Coordinator and Reading Recovery Program complement the balanced Literacy Program.

-          4 sections 5th Grade, 1:23 teacher/student ratio*
·   Grading Period: Four 9-week quarters
 
SPECIAL PROGRAMS
Denmark Elementary School places a major emphasis on the development of literacy. In addition, students may elect to become involved in the following activities:
·         Battle of the Books – Fifth Grade
·         Community Activities – All Grades
·         Destination Imagination – All Grade Levels        
·         Peer Mediation – Fourth and Fifth Grades    
·         Safety Patrol – Fifth Grade
·         School Store – Fifth Grade
·         Spring Discovery Fair – All Grades
·         Student Council –Fourth and Fifth Grades
·         Summer School – All Grades
PARENT INVOLVEMENT OPPORTUNITIES
·    Denmark Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization - President – Rob Rexrode     
·    Classroom Visitation – Parents are welcome to visit and observe classes at any time. Registration is required in the office before observing in a classroom.

Parent may schedule a conference with a teacher  outside of the established conference dates. Contact the teacher for a conference request.
