A school district crisis response plan protocol is established for student or faculty death or life-threatening medical situations. Activation of the school district Crisis Response protocol is the responsibility of the school superintendent or his designee.
Early Childhood Screening:
The Early Childhood Screening process is conducted annually to assist parents in assessing potential developmental delays for all school district resident children between the ages of 2 ½ and 3 ½.
The EL program is a district wide program designed to assist eligible English language learner students become proficient in their English language acquisition by providing additional academic support in the form of pre-teaching, differentiated instruction, and additional review of academic concepts. The Ell program further directs ELL participation in the statewide academic achievement assessment process.
The Gifted and Talented program provides direct and indirect classroom and extended classroom activities for students to ensure the educational needs of the school district gifted and talented student population are addressed.
Homebound Instruction Program:
Homebound Instruction is designed to provide limited school-based academic services to students who are not able to attend school as a result of an illness or injury.
Homeless student services are available to ensure our school district homeless children and youth are provided with equal access to its educational programs, have an opportunity to meet the same challenging state and school district academic standards, are not segregated on the basis of their status as homeless, and to establish safeguards which protect homeless students from discrimination on the basis of their homelessness.
Medicaid Reimbursement Services
The Denmark School District , Department of Pupil Services office coordinates the billing process to the Wisconsin Medicaid program for reimbursement of school-based special education services delivered to eligible school district students (i.e. speech & language therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, school nursing services, and school psychological services).
Pupil Nondiscrimination:
The Department of Pupil Services office coordinates the school district’s efforts to promote equality of participation for all students across all school district curriculum and activities.
Pupil Records:
Pupil records are maintained consistent with state and federal pupil records statutes and prohibit disclosure of most pupil records without written consent of parent or adult student. Access to these pupil records by school district personnel is restricted to those staff members who maintain a “legitimate educational interest” in that student. School district staff members are referred to school Staff Handbook for a complete listing of the various pupil records and the description of contents for each pupil record
School-age Parent Program:
The School-age Parent program assists eligible school-age parent mothers and fathers to continue their education throughout their school-age parent eligibility period.
School Counseling Services:
School Counselors provide counseling services to individual students and groups of students in the areas of behavioral and social-emotional issues, academic support, and career/vocational education. They also provide consultation to students, staff, parents, and community resource agencies on student psycho-educational issues.
The School Nurse evaluates and assesses health needs of students and school district staff. The School Nurse also prepares health care plans and supervises the implementation of required health care procedures for identified medically involved school district students.
School Psychological Services:
The School Psychologist evaluates students referred for special education, Section 504, and non-special education purposes. The School Psychologist also serves as a resource person to the school district in the areas of psycho-educational development of individual students, student assessment, gifted and talented, Section 504, and parent education needs.
School Resource Officer Services:
The School Resource Officer’s role is prevention of crime and reduction of delinquency within the school district as well as promoting an educationally safe school environment for all students.
Section 504 (Rehabilitation Act of 1973) Services:
Section 504 school based-services are available for any student with a documented mental or physical impairment, which substantially limits one or more major life activities (i.e. caring for one’s self, performing manual tasks, walking, seeing, hearing, speaking, breathing, learning and working)
The Denmark School District complies with all federal and state regulations relating to the delivery of special education to students identified in need of special education services. Student eligibility for special education services is identified through the school district’s special education referral process.
Student Intervention Teams (SIT):
