Sheryl DeLarwelle

Director of Special Education/Civil Rights Coordinator

Professional Information

I attended UW Oshkosh where I obtained a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Special Education.  I am certified to work with K-12 special needs students.  I also obtained a Principal and Director of Pupil Services license through a UW Milwaukee and UW Green Bay co-op program.  I have been working in the Denmark School District since 1995.  I taught at the elementary building from 1995 - 2000, at the high school building from 2000 - 2002 and 2014-16, and at the middle school at the 7th grade level from 2002 - 2014. Since the 2016/17 school year, I have been serving as the Director of Special Education.

Personal Information

I grew up in the Denmark School District, attending K-12.  My maiden name is Skaletski.  I am now married to Chris and we have one son and one daughter.  I enjoy spending time with family and friends.  My hobbies and interests include reading, golfing, walking, other outdoor activities, and watching our children participate in their activities of interest.

Teacher:

In my teaching role, I work with students in a supportive model to make sure they experience success towards meeting high school requirements.  Support is provided within the general classrooms as well as in small group settings in the resource classroom.

 Transition Work:

As part of my transition coordinator role, I provide opportunities/information for parents and students to learn about services students with special needs have available for a successful transition from school to work.  I set up company tours for students to learn about and explore various employment opportunities.  I have students reflect on the visit to allow them to make decisions in the future about whether they would like to apply at the company.

 New Teacher/Mentor Coordinator:

In this role, I am responsible for providing an inservice in the summer for all new staff to inform them of district initiatives, provide them tours of our district buildings, and set up a training for the technology programs used in our district.  I match the new staff with an experienced district employee who mentors, advises, and supports the new staff member throughout his/her first school year.  I also serve as a mentor to new staff members in whatever capacity is required.

My Daily Schedule

During 1st and 2nd block, which is 8:00 - 11:05 am,  I am working with students either in a supportive role in a classroom, or in my classroom in a guided study or pull-out setting.  From 12:00 - 3:30, I am in my transition coordinator role and am either setting up site visits, taking kids on a site visit, or working with individual students on transition needs.

To discuss concerns about a student or anything else, please call between 12:00 and 3:30 at 863-4265.  You can also email at anytime.
