Honor Roll, Academic Points, & Bonus Points
Honor Roll and Academic Points
In order to be eligible for honor roll and to earn academic points towards academic letters, medallions, and plaques, a student must have 3.0 credits of “letter-grade” earning classes in their schedule each semester. Letter-grade earning classes are classes that use the A, A-, B+, etc. grading scale. An example of a class that is NOT a letter-grade earning class would be PLATO online classes (student receives credit and a grade of either “pass” or “fail).
Honor Roll
The honor roll report is run at the end of each semester.
A student on the High A honor roll has a semester grade point average of 4.0 or higher.
A student on the A honor roll has a semester grade point average of 3.5-3.999.
A student on the B honor roll has a semester grade point average of 3.0-3.499.
Academic Points and Awards
The shift to an A/B BLOCK master schedule during the 2024-25 academic year includes a shift from final term grades to final semester grades. Due to this change, the amount of academic points awarded and the amount that students need to accumulate to earn a letter, medallion, and/or plaque have been adjusted.
Points are awarded at the end of each semester.
Students receive 4 points for achieving the High A or A Honor Roll.
Students receive 2 points for achieving the B Honor Roll.
A student receives a letter during the academic year in which they accumulate 12 points.
A student receives a medallion during the academic year in which they accumulate 20 points.
A student receives a plaque during their senior year if they accumulate 28 points. Students who earn a plaque have been on the High A or A honor roll during every semester of high school through semester one of senior year.
Academic points are tallied at the end of semester one each academic year and awards are given out at the Academic Celebration in May.
Bonus Points
As an incentive for taking rigorous 4-year college credit and Advanced Placement (AP) courses, students who complete these courses will receive bonus points. Bonus points are added to the student's final grade in the college credit or AP class. The student receives a .25 bonus added to their final grade in the class, no matter what the final grade is. For example, instead of receiving a 4.0 for an A in the class, the student receives a 4.25. The .25 bonus is added to the final grade for the class (not simply added to the cumulative grade point average).
