Pi Day

In case you hadn't heard.. It's National Pi day! π

For the Past 13 years, the date 3.14 has held a special place in the hearts (and stomachs) of students in Mr. Kozicki's Math class. In honor of Pi Day, students complete a maze worksheet and an escape room activity that involves using Pi to calculate the circumference or areas of circles. They also hold an annual memorization contest where the students that memorize the most digits of Pi get to take a Pie home!

Knowing 30 digits also earns them a certificate on the wall as part of Mr. Kozicki's Pi Day Hall Of Fame!

The 2025 Hall Of Fame inductees are Addison Pinchart (32 digits), Bralen Stein (61 digits), Alexander Rozum (70 digits), and Alex Fredrickson (161 digits). Alex also holds the all-time record of 219 digits from 2023.

To add even more fun to the celebration, many students bring in their own pies and treats (of circular or spherical shape) to share with the class! A big shout-out to McKenzie Wells who made 6 pies this year to share with fellow students and staff!

What a fun & delicious way to spend time doing some math and sampling a variety of pies! π
